prAs I approach thirty sooner rather than later, I have really tried to start a daily skin care routine. After all, I put my skin through a lot, especially this time of year. I am constantly sweating in and out of the gym. My face is typically covered in dirt and grime from the day's workout. Plus the day to day stresses of life are often seen under my eyes and on my face.
I have been in search of a good skin care solution that cleanses, moisturizes, and helps rejuvenate my face. I have tried a variety of products that typically come in my monthly Ipsy bags. While I liked some, I never would follow up and buy the product. A friend of mine passed a long some products they have been using. Anything that my friend recommends, I will follow suit. The line of products my friend passed along, South Beach Skin Lab, has been my life saver.
My South Beach Skin Lab Experience
Prior to using South Beach Skin Lab my skin was blotchy, I had horrible dark circles under my eyes from stress and lack and sleep, and just felt over all yucky. It took me a while to actually start using the product after I received it. Like I mentioned, I had a stockpile of products from Ipsy that I had been testing. The South Beach Skin Lab line sat on my counter, staring at me. Enticing me to use it, but I wasn't ready yet to break the seal on the products. (I hate taking products out of the original packaging and actually opening them...it's a slight hoarding instinct...haha).
I opted to first use the Olive Oil Cleanser when I was in a pinch. I was in a HUGE hurry to make a dinner reservation and was throwing on make up. My eye liner pencil broke on eye lid, leaving me with a giant, black mess around my eyes. I didn't have any make up remover at the time. I glanced over and noticed the word "cleanser" and immediately dabbed it on a rag. What I ended up grabbing was South Beach Skin Lab's Olive Oil Cleanser. The cleanser quickly wiped away all the black eye liner smeared on my eye.
After literally "breaking the seal" on the products, I decided to finally put them all to the test. I applied the Repair and Release Cream to my entire face. After the Repair and Release Cream absorbed I added the Eye Lift Serum under my eyes. I could feel the serum working pretty instantly. You can feel a slight sensation as it absorbs under your eyes.
Within a few days of using the product I noticed a pretty big difference in my skin. My skin tone was more even and soft. The dry aggravated skin that I had been dealing with was a thing of the past. I actually haven't had a breakout (knock on wood) since I started using the product. I think this is partially due to the fact my skin is less irritated daily.
The Eye Lift Serum has worked wonders. Thanks to Somnapure PM (the nightly melatonin supplement I began taking) and the Eye Lift Serum, the dark circles under my eyes are gone. I always say you can tell how a person is doing by the look in the eyes. My eyes are literally a lot more vibrant. It's hard to actually find the word to describe how my eyes look now. I guess the best way to say it is that they look "well rested", even on days when I'm not so "well rested".
My Lasting Thoughts on South Beach Skin Lab
I am usually not one to speak up and say much about skin care products, after all I hardly wear make up since I work from home. I am very much a tomboy who doesn't believe in a good skin care routine, which is why I typically only spend $10 a month on an Ipsy subscription. I can definitely say that South Beach Skin Lab has changed this attitude. I didn't realize how vibrant my skin could look and feel until it looked that way. I am hooked on South Beach Skin Lab!
The good news is right now South Beach Skin Lab is running 15% off and free shipping. If you are an Amazon fan, like myself, you can find the products there; however, with the 15% currently offered on the website, it is a better deal right now to buy it straight from the manufacturer.
You blinked your eyes and just like that it's Thanksgiving week with Black Friday and Cyber Monday on the horizon. If you are anything like me, you've thought about making a Holiday list, but then got distracted and have yet to actually do it. You've probably also been asked by significant others and relatives the age old question, "What do you want for Christmas?" (queue my best grandma voice). So if you are stuck as to what to get friends, family, and significant others for Christmas, here are a couple of my recommendations.
Lululemon Vinyasa Scarf/Wrap
If you know me or have ever seen me in public (hope I had on makeup that day) then you probably know that basically all I wear is Lululemon. While I hate that I love expensive workout gear (at least I actually use most of it given the amount I workout) a few of my favorite staples are my Lululemon Vinyasa Scarf and my Lululemon Vinyasa Wrap. Picture above is the Wrap. It makes a great, elegant piece paired over a dress or even a casual outfit. It also works ell as an extra layer on chilly fall or spring days. When it actually gets cold out, it can be used as a scarf. Lulu's Vinyasa Scarves' are great too. I like my scarf for more casual looks. If you have the luxury of living near an outlet, you can typically find them on a good marked down price. If not, you can find the wrap here ($29 on Markdown mind you!) and the scarf here. These truly make the best gifts for friends and those who you don't want to worry about buying the wrong size.
If you are in the mood to "shop small" this Holiday season, I highly recommend High Tide Designs based here in Charleston. My friend and former co-worker, Lauren, started this business over a year ago and her work is amazing. I love this small Oyster Pendant and Necklace. I bought this for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day (or her birthday, I forget) and she loved it. This is a great gift for those that love the coastal life, but want to avoid the "tchotchke" Charleston gift. Not only will the recipient love this, but you are also helping a small business grow. Check out Lauren's Etsy store for more of her work.
Bernhardt Field Diver Watch
While we are still on the accessories train, if you are looking for an inexpensive watch check out Bernhardt's Field Diver Watch. The watch is only $169. What I really love about Bernhardt is that they are a family run business, with all watches being designed by hand in North Carolina. The product is high quality and Bernhardt firmly stands behind their product. Watches are pieces that are hung on to for years, so when buying a watch it's important to buy a durable, "timeless" (no pun intended) piece. Shop Bernhardt's full collection here.
We recently bought an Amazon Echo and I love it! Alexa is my new BFF. Working from home can get lonely, so it's nice to be able to play music while I work without relying on my phone and bluetooth. It uses our Amazon Prime account and plays music available to Prime users. It's also great to utilize for reminder purposes and just has an overall source of entertainment. Alexa's jokes are quite funny. This is a great gift for the tech junky who seems to have everything.
I love Nectar Sunglasses. I bought the pair above (Rey) over the summer. I wore them basically every day and unfortunately after a few too many drinks at Follypalooza, I lost them. I was heartbroken (like seeing a sick puppy, heartbroken) about it. Well, what I love about Nectar is that the glasses are not that expensive (much cheaper than Ray Bans). I could have gotten the same pair I had for $39.99, but as God would have it, a few days later, I received an email from Nectar with a 50% off offer when bought off of Amazon. I ended up getting the Coltic/Wayfarer style and love them. What I also love about Nectar vs big name sunglass companies, is that Nectar is local. For a fraction of the price you can give someone a high quality pair of sunglasses (with a lifetime warranty) and also support honey bees and a local business Visit Nectar's store here.
If you know me, you probably are well aware that I am not a girly girl. Most days I leave the house with little to no make up on, in gym clothes. (Yes I am a Lululemon snob, so I can be a little materialistic!). Now that I work from home, it's an exciting day when I actually have plans and have to put on regular clothes and make up. Anyways, one of my best friends got married Memorial Day Weekend and I wanted to make sure that I didn't look like the gym rat in her wedding. I decided to splurge (yes, for me it was a splurge) and buy a good foundation. I needed something that I knew would last the whole wedding. I had read a lot about Veer Cosmetics' Foundation, so I decided to order it.
I ordered it a week prior to the wedding. I wasn't super hopeful it would arrive on time, but figured, I already use drug store make up and could make due with that if I needed to. Anyways, to my surprise, the product arrived six days later. It cost about $18, which is well over the $1 I spend on make up at the Dollar Store (don't judge, the Dollar Store make up has served me well!).
I ordered the "natural" shade, which was the second lightest shade. I have pretty olive skin, but my face is always lighter because I love to wear hats and I try to keep it out of the sun as much as possible. I knew that if the shade didn't match my skin, I could ship it back and exchange it free of charge. I decided it was safe to test out the shade prior to using it for the wedding.
The foundation matched my skin perfectly. (Like I couldn't tell you the last time I found a foundation to match so well!). I guess I learned my Dollar Store BB Cream wasn't as good after all, because it would go on super light and I would have to cake on bronzer to blend it. Two pumps of the Veer Foundation covered my whole face. It went on light and didn't feel cakey at all. I did use some bronzer just to blend with the rest of my skin, but I didn't have to use a lot of heavy bronzer. (I actually used the lighter of the two bronzers I have). I had some blemishes under my eye and on my chin, and the foundation seemed to cover them well, without the use of additional concealer. (I typically have to use a foundation + concealer to cover my blemishes).
Overall, I was very, very pleased with the foundation. It worked well with some of the rest of my drug store, dollar store, and Ipsy make up. Hopefully, this bottle will last me a while (since I am not an everyday make up wearer). Check out my (unedited) video below of my Veer Experience/My Overall Make Up Routine. Also, check out these photos from the wedding.
The foundation worked wonders at the wedding. It stayed all day (and night). I also used it for the rehearsal dinner, which was outside in the heat, and it survived the sweat and didn't just drip off.
If you know me, then you probably know that I can be the most ADD individual sometimes. My mind wanders and quickly conversations turn from "How is Your Day?" to "Oh my gosh! Look at what my dog is doing!". I am very much a proponent of solving problems without the use of prescription drugs, which is why I have fallen in love with my Comfort Cube.
What is Comfort Cube?
Comfort Cube is a highly addictive fidget cube that is designed to relieve stress and help you focus. It can be used at work, at school, and even at home. Since I work from home, I keep my Comfort Cube on my coffee table and use it while I work. I particularly find use for it when I am brainstorming solutions for my clients or needing to think outside of the box. It is a more mature version of the new kid-crazed fidget spinner.
The Comfort Cube has six sides that you can fidget with when the need arises. The sides include Click (which is similar to clicking a pen), Flip (which is similar to flipping a switch repetitively), Roll (which includes a rollable ball and three gears), Breathe (which is similar to a worry stone and helps relieve stress), Glide (which is similar to a gaming joystick), and Spin (which is similar to a dial, that you can continually spin). If you have ever sat through a meeting with me then you probably know which side is my favorite, Click. I am always clicking pens to their breaking point. This Comfort Cube has helped saved me numerous pens while helping me generate useful ideas and solutions for my clients.
I particularly like the Breathe side when I am stressed and needing to relax. On my recent trip to Italy I brought my Comfort Cube along. The Breathe side particularly came in handy to help soothe my anxiety prior to boarding our nine hour flight to Rome. (I'll admit, once I boarded, I did have to take half a Xanax to help knock me out for the duration of the flight.) Anyways, as my palms were sweaty, my mind was racing, and my stomach was uneasy, I simply pulled out my Comfort Cube and utilize the Breathe side to help relieve some of these pre-flight jitters.
Where to Buy Comfort Cube?
Again, if you know me, you know I very rarely buy anything from the store anymore. I recently started subscribing to Hello Fresh so I don't even get groceries from the store! Comfort Cube is pretty easy to purchase and can be bought directly from their website, www.getcomfortcube.com. There's no real hoops to jump through to order the product. It's even easier to order then Hello Fresh.
Another cool thing about Comfort Cube is that they come in a bunch of different colors. You can even buy his and hers Comfort Cubes. I like the white and pink one for me and the blue and white for my husband. With most things in life, the more Comfort Cubes you buy the cheaper they are (so it's more affordable to buy his and hers instead of just buying his or hers).
The two pack of Comfort Cube's is considered the "best value" with a two pack costing $25.00 per cube and including free shipping for both cubes. If you want more Comfort Cubes then you can go with their "most popular" package which includes three Comfort Cubes costing $20.00 per cube and including free shipping. If you still aren't sure about Comfort Cube and just want to buy one for now, you can purchase one Comfort Cube at $29.00 plus $4.95 in shipping and handling fees.
Shipping is pretty fast. I ordered my Comfort Cube and got in the same week. This product has been a godsend on my productivity and focus. They also make great gifts and prizes for employees! Why not reward your employees with a Comfort Cube for their next achievement. Obviously, I am not a very "salesy" person, but this product was so awesome that I just wanted to spread the word!
